So, E will be 3 in a few days. We have decided not to have a traditional birthday party; I thought that this was lame, at first, now, I realize that it is necessary.
We had a hectic fall semester. Jimmy spent the weekdays of every week 180 miles away from home. I had school, too, I also had a toddler w/ ODD (redundant, I know!), big craft shows and our lives to maintain. Throw in Thanksgiving (which was nice), Christmas (ahh, very nice), occasional birthday parties and other events to attend. All of this was not bad, it was, however, very busy.
Since juggling all of those things, I have wanted to withdraw a bit from some social gatherings. I need to do it.
So, next week, the 3 of us will sit at her little table, eat some things that she loves: chili & guacamole, chocolate cake. We will sing to her, and she will unwrap her gifts.
Evangeline will enjoy her birthday, I will enjoy her birthday (party).
We will be happy, and that's all I need.
*That is a self-diagnosis of ODD, I am an expert.
