Assignment: Baby Girl Shower Gift

I made this little dress, bib, and barrette (attached to the bib) for a friend attending a baby shower.

   

The new baby is being adopted and will be almost six months old, she will come home to a 4 year old sister. Hallie wanted the sister to have a gift, too, so I made her this:

   

Now that I think of it, I should have made each of them barrettes, oh well, they can get started on fighting for things now (you're welcome). Custom orders really get me going! Thank you, Hallie!

Lemon Overload

Yes, I am that person during the summer, I made lemonade with a few blueberries floating about. Wee E has been helping me pick tomatoes and jalapenos for about a week now, and I made salsa, my own recipe. I cut red roses for the celebration, but, it was over 100 degrees outside and they wilted fast, so did we.

 

 

For dinner, we had sirloin with grilled fennel & lemon topped with fresh thyme and mozzarella.

   

My friend and her newly walking little girl shared a meal with us and the girls played in a little pool, they stayed cool while we suffered. Heather made a cheesecake, which was delicious! She saved the night, too. I buy cherries in bulk, I pit and freeze them and use them throughout the year, sadly I had not noticed that I used all of the fruit, so my cherry pie plan went out the window. Oh well, we shall have cherries soon! I bought some fantastic lemon truffles from a local Etsy seller, (yes, 2 different types of lemon candies and no chocolate) they became our after-dinner "mint." I did not take a picture of them, but, maybe I can get an x-ray...

KC, We Enjoyed You

A few weeks back, we took a drive to Kansas City, MO for a barbeque trip, even though I am coming less interested in eating meat, the trip was still fun. Wee E had the most fun, I believe. 

 She loves planes,

   

Trains, 

 

and automobiles. 

 

She played a bit of chess, 

 

had some ice cream,

 
 

and had an adventure with her nerd

Half of us on the trip went to a Lego exhibit, there were sculptures and wall hangings completely composed of Legos, it was really neat! Here I am:

Kansas City was really fun and very artsy. I hope to return before too long!
