Dustbowl is an art and handmade market that focuses on local commerce, building community and celebrating originality. 

Dustbowl has partnered with Campus Corner to create an open air market on Buchanan Street that will feature 60 regionally local artists and handmade vendors .

I will be here Saturday with 59 other vendors! Please stop by and enjoy the beautiful weather that has been promised to us in August! The show opens at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. Live music until 10 p.m.

The 3 people putting on this show has done an excellent job of promoting here in our city, everywhere that I went to promote already had information, because I cannot keep quiet, I still blabbered on about it.

I am very proud of my city's support for the local market.  

I do not use the word proud often, unless it involves my toddler using the t*o*i*l*e*t.

Dreamy Fabric

I made these two skirts (simultaneously) for our kiddo.







The brown floral fabric is something that I absolutely love. I can just look at it and then, put it away. It was hard to cut into it, when I did, I made 2 of these bags, which are reversible.

Got Orange?

I wanted to title this post, "How About Orange?" but, I figured Jessica Jones might not like that so much. Jessica, I am a fan.  

I order most of kid girl's shoes from See Kai run, they are great shoes that are not stiff or narrow, which, sounds just like our bodies. During a sale, I spotted some sandals and could not decide if I should purchase them, I do not care for orange (or purple). After a few late night e-mails from two friends, I received their approval. This is what I want our daughter to do as well, seek peer approval before purchasing unnecessary items and still buy them.



Now, as I mentioned, I do not like orange, so, of course, she had no clothes for these shoes. After a month or so of wearing these sandals with non-matching clothes, I finally made her two skirts.

She seems pretty happy with it, because I told her that she is. Well, really, she loves birds and circles.

 

And no, I will NOT buy her purple shoes.

2 Birds in a Pod

My Oklahomie* and myself have a craft show collaboration called 2 Birds in a Pod. We want to keep patrons informed of the shows that we attend, so, we have a blog that you can now frequent: 2 Birds in a Pod.

 I recently received a blog makeover! It was necessary, I like the clean/plain look because I really wanted my readers to focus on my delightful writing and pictures. Reality settled and I asked Hope Wallace to hook up my crap blog. Great job, she did. Yes, I am Yoda today. 

I met Hope at Silver Bella in November 2008, she is so lovely, really. I have not quite figured out why she speaks to me. Hope has a company called Paper Relics, which, I have nothing but fantastic things to say about her product. Her rubber stamps are truly, truly the best. I have 4 sets and really, would like them all! Thank you, Hope!

Birds, Birds, Birds

A few weeks ago, The Vintage Pearl wanted 2 aprons for a large craft in which she was a vendor. I had only one apron made and she actually has one similar, not to mention, it is a kitchen apron. I knew that she fancied a particular fabric and figured that I would finally cut some to use for her, I know that it was going to a good home. I had been working on a vendor apron pattern for a while, and with her request, it was time to execute the plans. Here's what I envisioned:

Erin's aprons did not have the buttons on the waistband, which is too bad, because it is just so cute. I thought of that later. It was ridiculous how great these aprons matched her booth, which was really busy and very pretty. I scored a fabulous necklace there. I think that she will have them in her shop sometime in the future. Pic to follow. It's dark outside already.
