I've been breaking out in sweats lately, no, it's not the 110 degree temperature.
You all, I have quilt fever....
I did get a prescription for it: 4 yards of fabric to be taken over a weekend by sewing machine following strict instructions.
The prescription helped a little.

I felt well enough to go outside...
But, I didn't sleep enough and the fever has returned...
Also, you may now want to get checked, I heard that it is contagious.

It's true, there are bird lovers at this home, the most involved is the tiny one. At the hopeful age of 1, she was certain that she would catch a robin, they would taunt her by letting her get close and as she went in for the grab, they would fly away! She did not let that stop her, although at 4, she no longer tries to do it. Each year since, I've taught her the common birds that we see out of our window, I could not believe that she learned so many so fast, oh, our little orny!
Here is a nest that she made for a dead worm.
My best Bird sent me The Cornell Lab of Ornithology this summer and we hit the ground running! Each Monday we go to CLO and focus on 2-3 birds, we look at their pictures, videos (if available), talk about which part of the world in which they live, and listen to their calls/songs. It was fitting to start with a robin bird, after the lesson, I printed an embroidery sheet that I found online (The Floss Box) and let my little orny color it, she wanted to send it to Robin "because she will be so exciting!" That suggestion lead to an addition to the lesson--bird craft/art.
I found these 2 birds and she colored them as chickadees.
For 2 separate sessions, I sewed some birds while she filled them with cotton.
I showed E how to sew the tail closed, she did it all by herself! Also, we were still in pjs.

She calls robins "robin bird" to make a clear distinction between the person and the winged creature, you know, we adults are just so crazy!

I just realized that I already had this post ready to go without my fabric pictures, just sitting in "drafts." Lame.
Let's gear up for August's bag...it's the Fringed Hobo Bag. I am still on the fence about the fringe, I am considering piping.
I honestly thought that I would have my bag done by now. I know, it's just August 2nd, but I made July's bag in June sometime.
We will be making the FRINGED HOBO BAG from Chapter 8.
Fabrics for FRINGED HOBO BAG depend on which size bag that you are making, I suggest reading the finished sizes to determine what is best for you.
Here are my fabrics:
ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES:
We will need some yards of 20" wide FUSIBLE woven interfacing and FUSIBLE FLEECE. The testers in the book used Shape Flex by Pellon SF-101, just make sure that it is fusible and intended for light to mid-weight fabrics. I am in love with SF 101, that stuff is an interfacer's dream!
You can purchase interfacing at your local shop that sells fabric.
Are you new to using interfacing? Kathy Mack at Pink Chalk has a helpful guide to fusible interfacing that you may enjoy.

This month, we completed the Key Keeper Coin Purse and I must say, it was the fastest one with a zipper to complete! It's a cute little bag to hold some tiny items. It is a popular item at our home--as soon as I finished it, my daughter grabbed it and put some toys in it! I allowed it for 2 days, then, I confiscated back my bag.

There were almost 20 participants this month, I thought that there would be more because the bag is so small.
Highlights:
