Girl at Play

Well, here's my second quilt!  It's about 36" x 48", perfect for a little person's lap or playtime.  Okay, it's perfect for my lap, too.

 

The fabric has hopscotch and pinwheels and the sweetest floral print, I covered the entire back in it.

Scrappy binding--yep, yep.

I felt like there was too much pink and orange and not enough (none) green, but, I just left it and I like it.

 

Little E loves to take pictures if I am taking shots, so, this one is hers:

 

This quilt rolls up nicely!

 

 

Most of the fabric used in this quilt is by Sarah Jane, my local shop (OK Quiltworks) has it.  I work there on Tuesdays, I will later talk about that.

Style Stitches Monthly Bag Challenge 2011- September's Bag

I'm sure you all that are participating have already got your things ready for this bag, but, I need to post anyhow. 

We will be making the BLOSSOM HANDBAG from Chapter 9.  

Fabrics for BLOSSOM HANDBAG are the same if you choose to do the handbag or shoulder bag.  I don't know which one I'll do, probably the shoulder bag because I have a 4 yr old...

 

 I'll update with a photo of my fabric this weekend.  

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES:

We will need some yards of 20" wide FUSIBLE woven interfacing and FUSIBLE FLEECE.  The testers in the book used Shape Flex by Pellon SF-101, just make sure that it is fusible and intended for light to mid-weight fabrics.  I am in love with SF 101, that stuff is an interfacer's dream!  We need Peltex #70 or something similar, a 12" zipper, &  a 3/4" magnetic snap. 

You can purchase interfacing at your local shop that sells fabric.  

 

Style Stitchers, this is what we need to do for September:

• Select/order fabric and notions
• Show us the fabric that you are using on the Flickr group page, if you desire
• Cut out pattern pieces for BLOSSOM HANDBAG
• Make bag following instructions from book
• Ask questions if you have any (you may use the discussion board on our Flickr group)
• Take pictures of your FRINGED HOBO BAG and upload them to the FLICKR GROUP.  Alternatively, you may e-mail them to me and I will upload them to Flickr.  
• Meet back here on 1 OCTOBER 2011 for details for the next bag and to see a few of the photo-submitted bags and find out who won gift certificates to this month's sponsors:

Fringed Hobo Bag--2 Winners

For August, the bag was the Fringed Hobo.  Was it a great bag to sew?  I have no idea, I did not make my bag.  I was excited to use my fabrics for the bag and then, I was excited to do other things and that felt great.  I will make my bag, I guess, I have everything ready to go.  Enough about me and my lack of bag...
